Men's Reviews - Round 7

South Adelaide Panthers v Eastern Mavericks
Little separated the two sides throughout the closely fought contest with the game in dispute until the final play of the night. With seconds remaining, South's leading scorer Sam Gazzo (20 points) looked for an inside pass for a team mate to score to break the deadlock with scores locked at 86 - 86.  Blocking the keyway, Mavs' Jordan Dodman deflected the pass, Eastern's Shane Breheny grabbed the loose ball possession and found Cameron Myles (pictured) at half court with an outlet pass. Myles sprinted to the basket and with a reverse layup on the buzzer stole victory 88 – 86. Myles finished with a season high 19 points, 6 assists to be the match winner. The two ‘bigs' for Panthers Adam Blight (18 points) and Steve Pilkington (15 points) both had productive games. For Eastern, Shane Breheny (22 points and 12 rebounds) was the game high scorer and grabbed the loose ball possession that turned the match.

Woodville Warriors v North Adelaide Rockets
For the Warriors it was so close and yet so far to complete a Club double. Looking to break a four game losing streak the home side led by 8 points with under 5 minutes remaining after a basket to Mark Egel stretched scores to 59 - 51. In the frantic last 4 minutes the Rockets hit back through Rhys Elliott, Nick Hambour, Tom Rowe and Leif Burdon to grab victory.  The win secured in the last 15 seconds with a pair of converted foul shots by Tom Rowe. Rowe with 17 points finished the game high scorer. Rockets Nick Hambour and Rhys Elliott both finished with 14 points for Elliott a season high score. The Warriors had Peter Steel, Cameron Wilson and Brady Brink all on 11 points.

Norwood Flames v Southern Tigers
The Flames were strengthened by the return of David Cooper who contributed 15 points and 8 rebounds in his team's convincing win over the Tigers 87 – 69. Southern stayed within touch up until the third quarter when they only trailed by 3 points, 42 – 39 until a 3 pointer by the Flames Keith Krause with 8 minutes of the period left. From that point the home side steadily increased the margin to break away by 15 points at the 3/4 time break 64 – 49.  During the match Norwood had more scoring options than the Tigers but Tristan Braithwaite finished the game high scorer with 24 points. Norwood picked up 17 second chance points to clearly lead that statistic, the Tigers finishing with only two second chance   points. Norwood's Todd Matthews was the leading rebounder with a total of 12 rebounds.

Sturt Sabres v West Adelaide Bearcats
The Sturt men now sit at the top of the premiership table after defeating the Bearcats 84 -76 in a game where Sturt clearly won the first and last quarters and West Adelaide won the second and third periods. The Sabres' Jacob Holmes in his 2nd match of the season produced a double of 19 points and 11 rebounds, Tom Daly had 19 points and Darren Ng was on song for 18 points to help the Sabres grab victory. For the Bearcats, Brad Davidson (25 points) and Chris Molitor (18 points) were their main scorers. After the loss the Bearcats are on 5 wins and two losses, equal with Forestville, North Adelaide and Norwood all on the same win loss ratio.
