Women's Previews - Round 3

Forestville Eagles v North Adelaide Rockets Sun, Mar 21, 1:15pm at Wayville
In the tail end of the toughest double header of the round, Forestville make its home debut against a North team that's now had two games to integrate Carla Boyd and Emma Pawlowski into the lineup. Without a legitimate "big", the Eagles chances rest heavily on the Lightning's Mia Newley, who sat for 0 minutes in round 1, and is unlikely to get much rest against Boyd, Pawlowski and the much improved Marisa Stabile. The Rockets will be better for being forced to work hard against Southern last week, while Forestville's performance might rest on how well they recover from their game against West.

Eastern Mavericks v Southern Tigers Sun, Mar 21, 1:15pm at Adelaide Hills
Maverick fans will come out in force for Sunday games, and if the Mavericks matchup with the Tigers is anything like their last home game, they're in for a treat. Australian junior squad members Steph Talbot and Alex Wilson starred last week in a tight loss to West and with Cody Lange debuting this week, coach Brenton Johnston has an exciting team of young athletes that will improve each week. Willie Jennette's Tigers started on fire against North, with Teresa Kinross exceeding her career points average by quarter time. Robyn Jennings has benefitted from a few months training with the Tigers and her strength and rebounding will be an asset against the less experienced Mavericks.

Sturt Sabres v Norwood Flames Sun, Mar 21, 1:15pm at Pasadena
Sturt was a defensive juggernaut against South and should apply similar pressure to Norwood this week. Anna Maycock is a welcome addition to the team and with increased minutes, Brooke Sidebottom last week picked up her second double double as a Sabre. Norwood's Rachael Herrick will be a challenge for the Sabre defence, though given she has only been in town for a week may not be immediately dominant. Rebecca Duke, however, could be, and any of Jordan Walker Roberts, Jess Smart and Lisa Ackroyd could chip in. Of interest will be Simon Pritchard's rotations, since the addition of Herrick and Kate Shierlaw to the lineup, with not much given away against Centrals last week.

Central Districts Lions v West Adelaide Bearcats Sun, Mar 21, 1:45pm at Starplex
The Lions did it tough against Norwood in round 1 and will not find it any easier against West. Coach Winston Folland would be elated with the inclusion of Amber Land who had a double double in her first week in Australia, and would also be happy with other recruit Emma Fellowes who adds some experience at the guard position. West will be smarting from being sent to overtime by Eastern, and Centrals will be hoping that they took out their frustrations on Forestville last night. With two games under their belts, Kerrin Webber and Irene Sourlatzis will be more comfortable with West's Xs and Os, and you can expect West's frontcourt to dominate against hte smaller Lions.

South Adelaide Panthers v Woodville Warriors Sun, Mar 21, 2:00pm at Marion
Both the Panthers and Warriors dropped opening round games to stronger opponents, but both would see this game as winnable. Canadian Cassandra Carpenter should have another strong season but the Panthers need more contributers, and certainly need to improve on their 24% shooting percentage from last week. Woodville's American McKenzie O'Neill started strongly against Forestville but Woodville also need other to step up, and will need to score more than the 38 they scored last week to win this one. With Ursula Richards joining fellow ex-Warriors, Karen Rokicinski, Taya Crockford and Lyndell Kwiatkowski, this game could feature some emotion.
