Yes it’s that time of the week again where we announce our team of the week. This team has to show something that stands out from the crowd either on the field in there performance or a certain quality that is unmatched by any other team. This week the team is the ‘Old Wild Westies’
Although some families might play board games or crowd around the TV on a nightly basis the players in the Old Wild Westies follow a different philosophy on family bonding. This team combines the exuberance of the young with the wisdom and the experience of the old. With sets of parents playing with their kids the games they play are always filled with fun and laughter and you’re hard pressed to find one player without a smile from ear to ear on there face.
Talking to one of the younger brigade of the team Sam Woodcock he expressed his enjoyment in AFL 9s. When asked why he enjoyed playing he replied with "its great cause I get to play AFL over the summer" and also "it’s really quick which I really enjoy". This opinion is one that is shared across the team although you could tell his real reason for enjoying 9s was because he got to run around with his parents and learn a trick or two.
Overall The Old Wild Westies exemplify what AFL 9s is all about a fun, quick AFL based competition that can be played across a variety of age groups and genders and you would do well to find a team that has more fun on the field then the Old Wild Westies.
