Div 2 Men's Try-Outs

Speaking on his appointment Rogers said, “I’m really passionate about assisting the club to make a push up the division race with the potential of building something from the ground up. I have some great memories of my time with the SUNS and while the club has experienced some challenges in the past 24 months within BIG V circles, with a united management and coaching structure in place, we have grand plans internally.”

Rogers returns to Sherbrooke after being the Junior Coaching Director between 2005-07 and most recently was brought in as Head Coach for a complete rebuild of Pakenham men’s program where, after the conclusion of the 2012 season, the team finished 2-18 to then make the playoffs in 2013.

“There are many similarities with the Sherbrooke situation as when I was appointed at Pakenham. For me it's about connecting the wider community, linking with the success and people who have represented the club in the past, both at junior and senior levels and engaging the present resulting in being proud of the team and product we put on the court in 2018.”

“To be a destination club for players it’s purely about the culture and environment that we will develop over the coming months but equally as important will be a genuine pathway for youth league players to progress. I’m really looking forward to seeing the energy and atmosphere we can generate playing at a boutique venue like Belgrave Heights and synergy between both men’s teams working with Brent Andrews (SYCM Coach).”

Rogers’ attention now turns to assembling a roster, and the club openly invites anyone who would like to attend an open scrimmage on Tuesday 26th September at Upwey High School stadium.  This will be the start of this process.

"There have been some outstanding players who started their journey and others who have spent time at the club in the past, but one thing that has remained is an inclusive attitude to all. We will look to replicate the feats of the 2006 D1M and 2008 YL2M squads who both won championships but understand there is a lot of work to do both in the short and long term.”
