Challenge
In 1993, at Upwey Basketball Stadium, it was the under tens UTA Eagle's playing the Selby Slammers for their first premiership title. UTA Eagle's hope of victory was placed on the shoulders of a young and talented superstar Chris Payne, but would that be enough to stop Selby's champion players David Black and Rohan Smith winning their first premiership title. With Selby taking the title, this was just the beginning of a great rivalry
When UTA brought in two new recruits, Casey Chan and Jason Ferriere they hoped they would be the answer to UTA's woes. It was and UTA went onto win the next six premiership titles in a row. The stakes were growing.
With six runner up medallions, Selby couldn't seem to come up with any answers for victory. Until Jason Ferrire's decision to no longer play with UTA but to transfer to Selby. This broke UTA's stranglehold on the premiership title and began a war that was fought out over many seasons until its supposed end in 2001.
Now in 2003 these players are some of the most talented to come out of the Sherbrooke Basketball Association with a long list of achievements to their names.
But no matter where they are playing now, they pay respect to where it all began and remember their roots and where it all started in that Stadium in Upwey.
They are back to settle it once and for all. This is not a game to be missed. The rivalry will still be there, these old adversaries won't hold back and it will always be remembered as the:
