Hi all,
The Wide Bay TAFE AFL BWB U/14 Representative Team performed admirably over 6 games at the AFL QLD U/14 Country Championships in Rockhampton last weekend winning 3 out of its 6 matches over 3 days to finish 4th in the 7 team competition eventually won by the undefeated AFL Cairns Team.
Four of the AFL BWB Tigers were rewarded for their efforts over the weekend with selection in the Country Kookaburras Team of 23 players to compete at the AFL QLD U/14 State Championship to be played at Gold Coast Stadium Carara on the Gold Coast June 30 to July 4.
All 4 Bundaberg based players were Jock Oates, Riley Blundell and Kallan Mazengarb from Brothers Bulldogs and Brad Higgins from ATW Bundaberg. Also worthy of mention was Bay Power player Blake Laud who no doubt would have been selected for the Kookaburras had he been available for selection but was not due to representative Rugby League commitments at the same time of the State Championships.
AFL BWB Regional Manager said “Overall the team performed well and 3 for 3 was a reasonable result although we did struggle at times against the better teams and were unable to produce the combined team effort that was required to be competitive with them. Four players selected for the Kookaburras was a great result and I look forward to those boys performing well at the State Championships.”
Please find Championship Results attached.
