Hi all,
Happy Easter,
Although the Kookaburras finished 2nd bottom on the table following 1 win and 4 losses at the Championship with 2 of the 4 losses 6 point margins that could have easily gone the other way Myers was a shining light for the Kookaburras all the way. He was best on ground in the win over the Taipans in the first game and featured in the best players list in every other match for the Championship.
His efforts earned him the Kookaburras Coaches award from Coach Eddie Skiba and the Kookaburra Medal voted on by his team mates. He played predominantly the key role as centre for the Kookaburras working back in defence to help his team mates then setting up his forwards through the midfield and was then able to push forward and kick goals. The selectors were particularly impressed with his improved endurance, strength and speed combined with top level decision making and skill execution.
Kookaburra Assistant Coach Anthony McDonald said, Justins performance was outstanding in all areas, his strength, skill and leadership a real standout not just for the Kookaburras but for the Championship as a whole. I am genuinely excited about how he will perform both for Redland at State League level, for the QLD Scorpions at National Championship level and the opportunities that will bring him going forward.
Myers was 1 of 4 Country Kookaburras selected. Congratulations to Billy Moorhead (Brothers Bulldogs), Ryan Paterson (ATW Bundaberg) and Darcy Pope (Hervey Bay) for making it to the Kookas and competing in the Championships.
