With the annual Pre-Season competition around the corner, the new Whitsunday Sea Eagles Women’s team is set to be the one to watch in the competition.
AFLQ Regional Manager Jeff Neumann said the carnival will be a great introduction for the team to find their feet.
"The Sea Eagles are building quite the list and averaging over 20 players to weekly training sessions,” Neumann said.
“The 2017 season is shaping up to be one of the best yet with the AFL Mackay Women’s competition expanding to now include the Whitsunday Sea Eagles and the Mackay City Hawks."
The players are excited to get started, listing a few reasons why they’re loving the game.
“It’s more athletic than rugby league and I really like being part of an all female team, not mixed,” Sea Eagle Hayley said.
"So proud to be part of the first women's team in the Whitsundays!” Sea Eagle Sherry-anne said.
Sea Eagle Ella has these words for anyone thinking of joining.
“You get fitness, make friends and you’re supporting a great sport in the Whitsundays.”
New recruits care still welcome to contact Nicki Steel on 0438 669 199 or visit the Whitsunday Sea Eagles on Facebook.
The Flash Footy carnival will be held in Airlie Beach on March 11.
