To celebrate the inaugural U18 Youth Girls National Championships, which are to be held in Melbourne from 7 to 11 September 2010, the Queensland State U18 Youth Girls Teamkicked off the Youth Girls football on Thursday 12 August and will make its way down to the Championships.
WE NEED YOUR HELP… Do you know any celebrities, sports stars, general iconic Queenslanders that we can capture a photo of with the our QLD pink footy in the next week in South East Queensland? Please let Julia or I know ASAP. Even if you have an idea of who we could get.
To date, we have captured the following people with the ball: Premier Anna Bligh (attached), Bill McDonald (Ten), Pip & Adam (Totally Wild), Bart Sinclair (Courier Mail), Leroy Loggins (NBL), Darryl White (AFL), Various Lions Players, Operator Please (band), Winner of the Best Job in the World Ben Southall (TQ), Karmichael Hunt (GCFC), Ian Healy (Cricketer), Quentin Hull (ABC), Kelly Higgins-Devine (612 ABC), Dr. Karl Kruszelnicki (Scientist), B1 & B2 (ABC) and John Lazarou (The Coffee Club).
After doing the rounds with celebrities in SEQ, it will be taken by AFL Queensland’s major sponsor, Australia Post from Brisbane on Monday 23 August to the U18 Youth Girls National Championships Welcome Ceremony at Yarra Park Room, Olympic Stand, MCG at 7pm, on Monday 6 September 2010. It will be making stops in Coffs Harbour, Tamworth and Canberra along the way.
Each State competing in the Nationals have been given a footy, the best story of the ball travelling down will be displayed in the AFL museum.
