For the next three weeks Mackay's Lauren Bella will be between Brisbane and Canberra for representative Aussie Rules and netball teams.
It's not surprising this hard working, 16-year-old has been voted Mackay's Junior Sportperson of 2016.
More than 1300 people had their say and Lauren won with a massive 21% of the votes.
"When I looked at the list there were plenty of other kids who had achieved better things or just as much as I have,” she said.
"I feel really humbled just to be able to win it and have support from all my friends and family.”
When Lauren started playing Aussie Rules she was one of three girls in her brothers' Sarina Demons' Under-13 team .
"A lot of my cousins were in the same team so we were quite a tightknit team,” she said.
She played in the side until she was 14.
"I really loved it, I wish I could do it now but obviously I can't,” she laughed.
At that point Lauren was too old to play in a mixed team but too young to play in a women's team so she began to play netball socially.
It wasn't long before the talented athlete began to excel in the sport.
Just one year into playing, Lauren was competing in state trials and became a Whitsunday Sharks development player.
She made selection in the Queensland U17s training squad and will go away to Brisbane this month to vie for her spot in the side.
"I'm really excited and nervous,” she said.
"I started playing netball a lot later than other girls so I haven't really had that experience of growing up with netball.”
Her passion for both sports began to spread.
"I'm hoping to still play at a high level with netball, I'm still just dabbling in both just as much,” she said.
It wasn't long before Lauren made her way back onto the football field.
"Towards the end of the year (2014) I got a taste of women's footy,” she said.
After making selection in state teams and the Gold Coast Suns Academy and summer development program, Lauren joined the Bakers Creek Tigresses.
This will be her biggest year yet.
She will be finishing Year 12 and travelling to Brisbane every second weekend to play in the Queensland Women's Australian Football League.
"The standard is a lot higher than local footy so I'll be able to gain so much more experience and learn more skills,” she said.
It's just another stepping stone in her dream of putting on a Brisbane Lions jersey.
A dream that only became a reality this year with the announcement of the new women's league.
"It's really exciting there's a pathway... when I was playing there wasn't a women's league it was just mixed teams,” she said.
"This is a sport I really like and getting a women's league dedicated to females is just amazing.”
It is only a matter of time before Lauren is old enough to be playing in the Brisbane Lions women's team.
"That's my goal, that's what I'm aiming for,” she said
