Another Eastern Swans junior is soaring towards the AFL.
Harry Arnold has been playing football for 11 years. On Wednesday he made the move south to train at the Gold Coast Suns Academy, hoping to repeat history.
The 17-year-old grew up watching former Swan and St Kilda player David Armitage on television.
Seeing former teammate Nick Kempe nominated as a potential draft pick for the Suns this year has inspired the young centre half forward.
"Kempe has shown you can make it that far, being from Mackay,” he said.
At 14, Arnold was selected in the Academy but was de-listed the next year.
He came back stronger than ever to make the squad again, only to be knocked down with stress fractures in his back. With two weeks left of his 10-week injury, Arnold is determined to get drafted next year.
"I have a lot of work to go... (but) If you're the right person off the field then everything else will take care of itself.”
