You don't realise how many people are there for you until you need help.
That's what Jessica Taylor discovered after a teammate offered to help get her and Ashley Moloney to Brisbane to further their careers.
The two Mackay AFL rookies were selected in the Women's State Academy to train in the new Brisbane Lions team.
After spending time with the girls, Carisssa Morgan stepped in to help.
"I knew they could use a bit of help... it is such an amazing opportunity but these girls have to pay for it out of their own pocket.” she said.
The trip is estimated to cost both girls around $3000, and they have to take time off work.
So Morgan organised a fundraiser for Friday night at the North Mackay Saint's ground from 6.30pm. Entry is $10 with a sausage sizzle. She also set up Go Fund Me pages to help with the the cost.
Luckily for Taylor, her employer (BHP Billiton) has organised for her to continue her apprenticeship in Brisbane for the three months she is training.
"I'm feeling very blessed that everything is falling into place for me to seize the opportunity to be part of such an elite squad,” Taylor said.
Moloney is also feeling overwhelmed with the support flooding in.
"Even the littlest amount means the world,” she said.
"It was a big commitment to go to Brisbane and train in the summer camp and a big decision financially.
