The very popular NAB AFL Auskick has always been a hit and runs all year round at numerous schools and community centres. However, NAB AFL Auskick now has a younger sibling, called Kinderkick.
Kinderkick is a fundamental motor skills program that is designed to target kids aged 3-5 years.
Kinderkick features specific lesson plans to assist and enhance the development needs of each child’s physical and social well being. AFL Queensland Regional Manager in Mackay, Jeff Neumann said the program will roll out throughout Term 4 and well into the new year.
“We are very excited to kick-start Kinderkick across the region and it all begins in a fortnight at South Mackay Kindergarten,” Regional Manager Jeff Neumann said.
“The children will complete an appropriate game based warm-up, then participate in fun target skill activities such as catching, throwing, balancing, crawling etc. Before concluding with some calming activities.
“In our Kinderkick programs, children develop and grow physically and emotionally, through innovative, fun drills and sequential activities, children develop coordinator, balance and concentration,” Neumann added.
AFL Queensland provide coaches who are specifically trained in delivering sports and motor skills programs to children between three and five years of age.
“All of our coaches undertake a Kinderkick specific training program, delivered by an early learning specialists.”
Kinderkick runs for 6 weeks, consisting of one 45-minute session per week. South Mackay Kindergarten will host the regions first program and for more information head to www.aflq.com.au/kinderkick/.
