Week 2 of Mackay Isuzu UTE Junior AFL Mackay finals is upon us, and there are some big clashes for all competing teams in the hopes of making it to the big dance the following week at Harrup Park.
Rogers Oval will again play host to all preliminary finals this weekend.
Under 17 Mackay Isuzu UTE Cup – Preliminary Final Preview
Mackay Magpies VS Whitsunday Sea Eagles
What a mouth watery match up we have this weekend in the Under 17 Isuzu UTE Preliminary Final, the Whitsunday Sea Eagles VS Mackay Magpies.
The Sea Eagles will be full of confidence after knocking off their more fancied opponent last week in the Eastern Swans. Whitsunday will be looking towards Rhys Fuhrmann to help steer them to another match winning performance from the midfield after his six goals last week. Michael Maltby will also be a key player the Magpies will need to watch closely if they are to advance any further.
The Mackay Magpies on the other hand are very unlucky not to have already advanced to the grand final after a narrow loss to North Mackay Saints last week by 8 points. The likely suspects in Rory and Reegan Underwood, Jarrod Laffan, Rory Tarlington and Bailey Stewart are expected to keep the Sea Eagles on their toes.

Under 14 Mackay Isuzu UTE Shield - Preliminary Final Preview
Sarina Demons VS North Mackay Saints
The Under 14 Isuzu UTE Shield appears on paper to be the match of the day down at Rogers Oval. Last week the Whitsunday Sea Eagles gave Sarina a touch up in the qualifying final by 22 points with Sarina only able to kick the single goal.
However, this week Sarina will be looking for a dominate display from Callum Creeley, Will Bella, James Rix and Zali Roland. If Sarina have any chance this week these four will need to fire early on in the match.
The North Mackay Saints have come into form at the pointy end of the season, with a convincing win over Mackay Magpies last week by 33 points. Led by the likes of Damon O’Dwyer with 3 goals and Ty Jenkins 3 goals as well. Brody Morris also ran wild all day through the midfield.
This game will go right down to the wire, so make sure you get in early to see the future of AFL Mackay showing off their skills.

With a very early start of 7:45am the Under 12’s will once again be kicking the dew of the grass at Rogers Oval. The contest between Mackay City Hawks and Eastern Swans appears to be a match that will be won or lost in the midfield.
The Swans will have the likes of Coby Saunders, Noah Gupwell and Brodie Evans running around while Mackay City Hawks will have Charlie Hughes, Lachlan Jones, Wade Fiegert hoping to fire. The team who is able to use the wide open spaces will put their best foot forward in playing the North Mackay Saints next week in the Grand Final.
