AFL Queensland Regional Manager in Mackay, Jeff Neumann said this is an important step in sustaining the female pathway across the region.
“We have an ever increasing demand, for more opportunities across the region and on the back of our very successful schools cup and under 11 girls competition, we are now establishing a pathway for youth (13-17) across the region,” Regional Manager Jeff Neumann said.
“This is a three phase process, with Rookie ID days to be held across secondary schools and then transitioning these rookies across to phase 2 (the competition) is our main focus,” Neumann added.
AFL Queensland’s Jeff Neumann, also said,” There is a high demand and with the confirmation of the National Women’s League in 2017, we will see an incredible increase in female players and right now we are preparing for that.”
