Eastern Swans captain, Alana McNabb has been selected to play for the Gold Coast SUNS in the AFL Women's exhibition game against the Brisbane Lions at the Gabba this Saturday.
McNabb has had a rapid rise to the top, after taking up Australian Football with the Bendigo WFC in the Victorian Women's Football League in 2013. From there, McNabb has been on the rise representing Victoria Country and selection in the Queensland Women's Academy in 2015 and 2016.
With only 35 club games for her career, McNabb finished runner up in the Women's league best and fairest count along with taking out the Swans fairest and best award as well. In 2015, McNabb captained the Mackay Vipers women's team to North Queensland champions over Rockhampton and Townsville, along with receiving the Most Valuable Player award.
McNabb was selected last year for the Gold Coast SUNS and was apart of the teams win over the Brisbane Lions at Metricon Stadium.
On Saturday, McNabb and her Gold Coast SUNS team-mates will play the Brisbane Lions women's team in a curtain closer to the men's match, at the home of the Lions, the Gabba. McNabb will play along side the likes of Emily Bates and Jordan Zanchetta, both multiple All-Australians and Western Bulldogs players.
For the Brisbane Lions, teenager sensation Tayla Harris and one of Queensland's finest female footballers Emma Zielke will go head to head with McNabb.

AFL Queensland Regional Manager in Mackay, Jeff Neumann said it is fantastic reward and great to have McNabb not only represent Mackay but North Queensland as well.
"Alana is a fantastic player, a leader on and off field and her selection for the Gold Coast SUNS is a credit to herself in the preparation and hard-yards she has done over the previous 6-12months," Regional Manager, Jeff Neumann said.
"Alana's selection for the SUNS, proves that no matter where you are based, if you put in the hard work, you will get success.
"We have many talented athletes coming through club football here in the region, and Alana's selection will no doubt extra inspiration to those players aspiring to reach the next level," Neumann added.
This will be Alana's second AFL Women's Exhibition game and the match will be broadcast via the AFL website live stream at www.afl.com.au/womens from 8pm this Saturday 16th April. Croc Media will also stream via radio at afl.com.au
