Round 2 Matches of the Round – Juniors
After a couple of weeks off and the school holidays coming to an end the Mackay Isuzu UTE junior competition are back for round 2 with some cracking games for the weekend.
The games of the round in each age group are highlighted below.
Under 12’s AFL Mackay Isuzu UTE Trophy
Mackay Magpies vs Pioneer Power
Eastern Swans vs Whitsunday Sea Eagles
North Mackay Saints vs Mackay City Hawks
This is the match of the round between two of the heavy weights in the Under 12’s AFL Mackay Isuzu UTE Trophy. Both sides had very good wins in round one with North Mackay Saints defeating Pioneer Power by 106pts and the Mackay City Hawks defeating Whitsunday Sea Eagles by 11pts.
The Hawks are going to have to find an answer for the Saints forward Ty Jenkins who kicked 6 in round 1 and Darby Coleman who kicked 3 majors.
On the other hand the North Mackay Saints will need to control Hamish MacDonald who kicked 2 of the Hawks 4 goals in round 1.
By the end of this match up on side will be 2-0 and the other 1-1 who will this be?
Under 14’s AFL Mackay Isuzu UTE Shield
Mackay Magpies vs Sarina Demons
After both sides coming off big wins last week this looks set to be the game of the round this week in the AFL Mackay Isuzu UTE Shield. The Demons however will be missing Callum Creeley who will be representing the Mackay Crows in the North Queensland Academy Championships. In Creeley’s absents Will Bella and James Rix should be able to fill the void.
Oscar Scholar has put his hand up early in the year to be the leading goal kicker of the competition with 9 majors against the Eastern Swans in round 1. Who at the Sarina Demons will be able to stop him? Also the Laffen brother and sister combination of Harley and Broke Laffan do the Demons have the fire power to stop the rampaging Magpies?
Eastern Swans vs Whitsunday Sea Eagles
North Mackay Saints vs Mackay City Hawks
Under 17’s AFL Mackay Isuzu UTE Cup
Whitsunday Sea Eagles vs Eastern Swans
This round of the Under 17’s AFL Mackay Isuzu UTE Cup will have undermanned teams due to a number of players representing Mackay in the North Queensland Academy Championships in Airlie Beach. The reigning premiers Eastern Swans will be without Captain Harry Arnold and key forward Jack Booth.
While the Sea Eagles will be without Tyrell Lafituanai, Logan Milligan, Josh Durnsford and Josh Norris. However with the likes of Rhys Fuhrmann who kicked 6 last round and Mitch Healy it still might prove too much for the Eastern Swans.
