The Eastern Swans have reaped the benefits of having their own NAB AFL Auskick program at Rogers Oval, after receiving two club assistance vouchers from AFL Queensland for the 2016 program.
With near fifty participants running around on Rogers Oval every Tuesday afternoon, club NAB AFL Auskick is a key in transition from school to club participant. The Swans ranked third for most club Auskickers, with 39% of these participants female.
In February this year, AFL Queensland launched their club assistance fund, to assist community clubs who ran a NAB AFL Auskick program at their club with an opportunity to receive a voucher to better resource the club program's.
To receive the vouchers, each club needs to reach a certain key criteria benchmark based around participation, transition and female participation.
AFL Queensland Regional Manager in Mackay, Jeff Neumann was stoked to present the Eastern Swans with two vouchers on Tuesday afternoon.
"The Eastern Swans have run a terrific NAB AFL Auskick program, led by junior coach Nigel Dent and these two vouchers will now assist in running a higher quality program for the club NAB AFL Auskickers," Regional Manager Neumann said.
"Thanks to Hart Sport, the vouchers can be used to better resource the clubs program with new equipment, to give everyone a bigger and better experience, each and everytime.
"We (AFL Queensland) have quite a few more presentations to make to other AFL Mackay Junior clubs, over the coming weeks," Neumann added.
