Footy returns this weekend, as the Whitsunday Sea Eagles host 16 teams in a round robin style preseason carnival in Airlie Beach.
The AFL Mackay Preseason carnival in conjunction with the Whitsunday Sea Eagles, is a one-day, multiple match tournament that gives teams from as far north as Townsville and south to Rockhampton, to blow the cob-webs out before the start of the new season.
The fast style of footy, includes 9-point rule, for scores outside 50 along with kickins for out-of bounds.
All seven Allied Pickford's Cup teams will be in action, including the reigning premiers the Eastern Swans. The Curra Swans, Thuringowa Bulldogs and Hermit Park, will represent the Townsville region, while the Glenmore Bulls will make the trek up the Bruce Highway from Rockhampton.
All five AFL Mackay premier women's teams will be in action as well.
The first bounce will be at 9:00am when the Whitsunday Sea Eagles take on last years grand-finalists the Mackay City Hawks.
At the conclusion of the men's and women's round robin matches, teams will play off for a spot in their respective grand-finals at 5:00pm and 5:40pm.
