After an impressive year, that included record crowds, rapid growth across female, multicultural and inclusion program's, the AFL Queensland and AFL Mackay office at Harrup Park will be closed over the Christmas break.
AFL Queensland staff will enjoy a well deserved break, before returning for one of the biggest years of Australian Football which includes the historic NAB Challenge match on March 6 between the Brisbane Lions and St Kilda Saints.
Regional Manager Jeff Neumann said it has been a massive year for the region.
"We have had many highlights, from our NEAFL match, to our growth in female segment and more opportunities for junior participants to develop, 2015 has been a very successful year for our great game in Mackay," Jeff Neumann told Mackay.AFLQ.com.au.
"2016 is shaping up as one of the biggest and most historic years of Australian Football, with the NAB Challenge match, new inter-schools set up and a new look pathway to club football.
"We are very excited by what season 2016 will offer the football family but also the broader community," Regional Manager Neumann added.
"On behalf of the AFL here in the Mackay, Whitsunday and Central Highland regions, I wish everyone a safe and joyous holiday season," Jeff said.
