With the AFL Grand Final finishing on October 3rd you would be mistaken that Aussie Rules around the Mackay Region would be packing up shop until next year.
“Football never stops. That’s why we love it” said Jeff Neumann, Regional Manager for AFL Queensland.
Term 4 is another big term for AFL Queensland in Mackay. We have five NAB AFL Auskick Centres running during and after school these are - Mackay Christian College, Mackillop Catholic Primary School, St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School and our very own “Girls Only” centres at Fitzgerald State School and Northview State School.
Next year we will have a big push for all our AFL Mackay Clubs to run their own NAB AFL Auskick centres to help transition the young boys and girls into their clubs junior ranks.
Neumann said “We want as many kids playing footy as possible and we believe club based NAB AFL Auskick is the future in our region”
“Transition from school based Auskick to club based Auskick is the key. We need as many helpers as possible to help grow the future talent in our game” Neumann added.
If you’re a club official or a willing club volunteer and would like to help out with this process please get in contact with our AFL Queensland office here at Harrup Park.
