After a testing week for Eastern Swans, it was good to finally play some football.
Coach Brad McLaren said the side "got the job done" against rival Mackay City Hawks at Harrup Park on Saturday.
"Both teams had a few players out but we got through the contest well," he said.
"It was very tough for all the boys and the club as a whole, so it was nice to get back to footy and, importantly, get the win."
Midfielders Sam Lyons and Matthew Oakford dominated while defender David Fraser was strong at the back.
"We'd like to think, all things being equal, our best 22 is better than their best 22," McLaren said.
"But we won't think that we have it over them until we've won a grand final. It is nice to be in the position we're in."

The unbeaten Swans stretched their streak to 11 wins and, barring a bizarre chain of events, will take out the minor premiership.
Swans play a memorial game for Blake Bailey, who died last year, against Bakers Creek next week.
Straight kicking saw Whitsunday Sea Eagles overcome Bakers Creek Tigers at Etwell Park. The Sea Eagles' four-goal second term created enough of a gap to hold off the Tigers.
In the west, Moranbah had a well-deserved win at Stevenson Sports Park against third-placed North Mackay. Kyle Rose and Nick Proud each had three majors as the Bulldogs work towards a late push for finals footy.
