Match of the Round
Moranbah Bulldogs vs. Eastern Swans
Saturday 4th July, 1:00pm Stevenson Park
Their last start 9-goal win over North Mackay sparked the Moranbah Bulldogs back into action and the Eastern Swans will need to be on-song if they are to defeat the home side.
In the competitions second season, wins aren't as easy to come by, and both teams will be eyeing the points this weekend for different reasons.
For the Bulldogs, a win would secure the position in the top four, while a victory for the Swans will keep them within striking distance of North Mackay and Mackay Magpies.
The last time these two sides met, back in round 5 the Eastern Swans recorded a hard-fought 10-point victory over the Bulldogs. However, Moranbah had their chances with both sides recording ten scoring shots each but it was the Swans who made the most of their time in front of the goals.
Moranbah led by 3 points at the final stage but it was the Eastern Swans who finished with 2.1 to 0.1 in the final quarter to collect the four premiership points.
It was attack of the Jennifer's in that match, as Bulldogs duo Goostrey and Revell were the two stand-outs for Moranbah. For the Swans Melissa Prior the tackling machine, Jess Healy and former Swans Maddie Raccosta were the main contributors for the home side in their victory.
Raccosta now a Magpie, Prior and Healy's influence will be even more important as will the remainder of the Eastern Swans team.
Playing the Bulldogs at home is one of the toughest tasks in the competition. Goostrey and Revell will again be key players as will the Rose duo (Sian and Amanda). A key player for the Bulldogs would have been Alisha Matsen but fortunately for the Swans Matsen is holidaying at the moment.
The Moranbah quartet of Goostrey, Revell and the Roses will be key if the doggies are to secure their spot in the top 4.
Prior, Healy will be keys if the Swans are to come away with the four premiership points but the Swans will be looking to the ever reliable skipper Alana McNabb and young star Rebecca Grummitt along with Adele Webb.
