The top three sides of the Allied Pickford's Cup have flexed their muscles in Round 10 fixtures.
It was the first time the Mackay City Hawks have met the Moranbah Bulldogs at Harrup Park since last years Grand-Final loss, it was a much different story this time round.
Sean Reilly in his first game in Mackay City's Division 1 side (for 2015) dominated inside the forward fifty with a bag of 5 goals, as did the ever consistent veteran Desmond Hayes. In game 170, Hayes was again named best on ground the third time this season.
With nine individual goal-scorers for the Hawks, Coach Matt Crowley would be pleased with his sides offensive efforts.
No best players or goal-kickers were listed for the Bulldogs.
Final Score: Mackay City 22.20 (152) def. Moranbah 2.8 (20)
Across in Glenella the Eastern Swans showed why they are the premiership favourites with a classy 126-point win over the Mackay Magpies.
The structures and ball movement of the Swans was a class above their opponents, with the Swans outside run and one grab possession the biggest destroyer of the Magpies. For the Swans Chris Burdon kicked 5 majors to take his season tally to 15 with young player Matt Oakford and Andrew Leithhead judged best on for the winning side.
For the Magpies, missing captain Jaebyn Drefke showed at times with the Magpies lacking defensive structure. Ruck Tyson Craig and on-baller Jeff Neumann were the most damaging for the home side.
Final Score: Mackay Magpies 5.3 (33) def. by Eastern Swans 24.15 (159)
An impressive defensive performance from the North Mackay Saints set up their big round 10 victory over the Whitsunday Sea Eagles at Zeolla Park.
The Saints kept the Sea Eagles goal-less until the final quarter, piling on 17 goals before the Airlie Beach men could register their first goal. However, credit to the Whitsunday Sea Eagles, they never gave in and gave the Saints a tough physical contest right until the final siren.
For the home-side David Edwards booted 7-majors and Sam Dunbar chipped in with 3 of his own.
No best players or goal-kickers were listed by the Sea Eagles. No best players were listed by the Saints.
Final Score: North Mackay Saints 22.11 (143) def. Whitsunday Sea Eagles 1.4 (10)
