AFL Mackay have reigned supreme in the Tri-Series Challenge on Saturday afternoon at Harrup Park, claiming both the Men's and Women's shields.
The Mackay Men's side defeated a dogged Capricornia in their first match by a slender 9-points and then easily accounted for rivals Townsville in impressive fashion by 47-points to claim the Representative Tri-Series shield for the first time since 2007.
Mackay City Hawks veteran and the ever consistent Desmond Hayes was awarded the Josie Rogers Medal as the Mackay men's best player.
The Mackay Women's side also climbed the female footy ladder of respect after defeating the red-hot favourites Capricornia by 17-points in their opening match and then showed their offensive game with a big 47-point victory to claim the Women's Tri-Series shield for the first time.
Eastern Swans Captain Alana McNabb continued her fantastic year claiming the MVP Medal, voted as Mackay's best player.
