The Mackay Magpies have continued their undefeated streak in the AFL Mackay Premier Women's competition after round 6 fixtures on the weekend.
Rylie Smith returned for the Magpies and was in damaging form, booting 5-majors in a best on ground performance for the black and white. Desley Robinson and Lisa Millard were also key contributors in the 78-point win over the Eastern Swans.
In the Premier Women's match of the round, the North Mackay Saints have run riot in the final quarter to defeat a dogged Moranbah outfit.
North Mackay kick-started the match with 3 goals to zero in the opening term, as the caught the Bulldogs off-guard and the Saints pounced. Again it was a similar story in the second term, with the Saints booting 3 majors but this time the Moranbah Bulldogs were able to slot two of their own.
It was all one traffic in the third, as the Saints could not tame the Bulldogs, with the Moranbah ladies piling on 4-unanswered goals to the Saints lonely 1-behind.
Moranbah were within two-points at the final change and the game was set up for a blockbuster finish.
Maybe it was the long consecutive weeks of travel that caught up with Moranbah but something clicked for the Saints and they piled 6-final term goals to secure their third win of the season and stay within one game of ladder leaders Magpies.
Jenna Camilleri booted 6-majors in a best on ground performance for the Saints.
Final score 12.6 (78) to 7.2 (44) in the Saints favour.
