AFL Mackay Isuzu Ute junior footballers Mathew Jenkins (Whitsunday AFC) and Riley Dreghorn (Mackay City AFC) are ready to rumble for the Under 16 AFL Queensland State Championships starting in Brisbane on Sunday.
Bowen based Jenkins will be injected into the North Queensland sides midfield with Basketball convert Dreghorn expected to play majority of his time in the ruck and down forward.
Both players impressed at the recent North Queensland team camp over the Anzac weekend along with the North Queensland State Championships in March.
AFL Queensland Regional Manager said both players will play important roles for North Queensland (NQ) at the State Championships.
"Mathew (Jenkins) and Riley (Dreghorn) are two terrific players and will be pivotal in NQ's chances at the Champs," Regional Manager Neumann said.
"Jenkins is a hard-running midfielder, that is a good user by foot and no doubt spend plenty of time in the midfield and across the half-back and forward.
"Dreghorn stands at 197cm and will play predominately in the ruck and pinch hit forward at times," Neumann added about Basketball representative Riley Dreghorn.
North Queensland start their campaign on Monday 3rd May at Burpengary Sports Complex in Brisbane's North.
