AFL Mackay have today announced the Men's City and Country representative teams for Anzac Day.
This will be the fifth installment of the Anzac Country versus City challenge, with the City currently recording 3 victories out of the 4 matches so far, after the 2014 Challenge ended in a 66-all draw. Both sides are filled with stars from the Allied Pickford's Cup competition, with City boasting numerous young stars including Bailey Manuel-Isaacs and Angus Johnston.
However, Country will have proven seasoned campaigners in the likes of Aaron Thompson, Jaebyn Drefke and Nicholas Proud head-lining their starting 22.
Regional Manager Jeff Neumann said the game should again be another close contest and could go either way.
"City will start as match favourites but Country aren't too far off the favourite's tag," Regional Manager Jeff Neumann said.
"City have selected numerous young stars, in the likes of DeAngelis, Manuel-Isaacs, Johnston and co for City.
"Countries advantage will come from their experienced players in Lachlan Ygoa-McKeown, Brandon Ross, Quinton Quakawoot and no doubt be a tough assignment for the young City side," Neumann added.
The 5th Anzac Country versus City Challenge starts at 3:15pm and will be a curtain closer to the Round 3 NEAFL Match between the Sydney Swans and Gold Coast SUNS at Harrup Park.
