Gold Coast Suns NEAFL coach and former Collingwood star Josh Fraser says playing on Anzac Day will be special for his young team.
"It's obviously really significant and we'll spend a bit of time with our boys just touching on the importance of the day," he said.
"No doubt, I guess anytime you get the opportunity (to play) on a day like Anzac Day it does hold a little bit more meaning and significance.
"We're looking forward to going up there and performing in a way that's fitting of playing on that day."
Fraser and some of the team were in Mackay in February and he's hoping the familiarity of the place and the warmer conditions will be helpful come Saturday.
"We do our pre-seasons in fairly warm weather as well, so we think we're pretty conditioned to that type of climate," he said.
"Obviously it's going to be a bit warmer than what it would be on the Gold Coast at this time of the year."
The Suns had a tough start to the year, losing both games against tough teams - the premiers and the minor premiers.
"Our boys are acquitting themselves really well," he said. "The guys that we put out there each week are giving great effort and we're really pleased with what we're seeing."
Fraser said after the weekend's games, Henry Shade was showing how good a player he was.
"His improvement is testament to his work effort," he said.
