When the Gold Coast SUNS and Sydney Swans reserve teams take to the field on Anzac Day in round 3 NEAFL action, there will be a young Mackay contingent amongst the elite players.
‘The Good Guys’ AFL Mackay Umpires Jessica Finney, Ryan Villalba and Matthew Stewart have been appointed to officiate in the big match.
Villalba and Stewart will be running up and down the boundary, with Finney to control the goals for the match.
AFL Queensland Regional Manager Jeff Neumann said it was a terrific opportunity for the three young Umpires and increases the awareness around the pathway for Umpires in the region.
"All three Umpires are terrific young people and their appointment to the NEAFL match is reward for their professionalism, work ethic and quality of Umpiring all three produce, week in, week out during Mackay fixtures," Regional Manager Jeff Neumann said.
"To have three Umpires officiate from the region in the NEAFL match shows that no matter if you are a player or umpire there is a pathway for you," Neumann added.
‘The Good Guys‘ AFL Mackay Umpires train every Monday evening at Harrup Park Country Club and if you'd like to get in the game you can.
Umpiring is for everyone and best of all, you have the best seat in the house for every match.
If you'd like to get involved in Umpiring in the region you can contact AFL Queensland Regional Manager Jeff Neumann, Jeff.Neumann@aflq.com.au for more information.
