With only 6 rounds of Home and Away Footy left to decide the final four, all teams will be out to improve and impress this round, and the two teams featured in this week’s Match of the Round for round 14 are no exception to that observation, with the all-conquering Eastern Swans at home at the magnificent Rogers Oval hosting the Mighty Moranbah Bulldogs, who, after coming off a forfeit last week ,are very keen to show what they are made of.
No one likes a forfeit and it is hoped that the Whitsunday Sea Eagles, can recover some players and muster a side this week ,and for the following weeks till the end of the season, we all wish them well.
Two games clear at the top of the ladder on the maximum 52 points, and with a big Zero in the loss column on the ladder, the Swans are going along nicely and coach Brad McLaren said that although his team are confident simply because they are unbeaten, in no way are they taking on Moranbah lightly as they have taken on all before them this season and are on evidence another top performer this year.
Brad did say that he had a good list to select from and with the welcome inclusion of a couple of regular players, his side are ready to play, and Brad also said that he is confident his midfield is where they will triumph this match, plus he expects that his backline, who have performed well all year will continue its good form, this week.
Brad said if his side can win 70% of the ground, on the day, they should get the chocolates.
Meanwhile out at Moranbah, seniors coach Sebastian Curtis told me that while his side will be missing a few, his selection of the 22 are all good players, and as the season develops, so too is his side in relation to playing together, implementing the game plan, and of course good old fashioned teamwork. Seb also said that while the Dogs have the potential to have lost a little momentum due to the missing a game last week because of the forfeit, the rest may well work in his favour, and he is pleased that his team has an opportunity to see where they are at against a side that will definitely feature in the finals action this season.
The Bulldogs go into this game full of confidence, and both coaches agree, this should a cracker of a game .
Other games this weekend are the clash between the North Mackay Saints at home at Zeolla Park, up against the old rivals in the Mackay City Hawks, and that could be an interesting game, while the other contest is the game at the Magpies Sporting Complex between the Northern Beaches Magpies up against the fighting Bakers Creek Tigers, who might just surprise a few this week.
As we have been really lucky with the weather, it is a great time to get along to a game, and watch a local you may know play AFL Aussie Rules where the Big Men Fly .
