I hope you and your child have had an enjoyable experience thus far with the 2013 NAB AFL Auskick program. We have numerous opportunities for children to play AFL throughout the region in 2013, including the chance to experience the fantastic events we have coming up in Mackay!
Gold Coast SUNS vs Brisbane LIONS reserve match on ANZAC Day (25th April, 2013) in Mackay
For the first time, Mackay will host the Gold Coast SUNS vs. Brisbane LIONS reserve teams on ANZAC Day at Harrup Park! As an Auskick participant for 2012/2013, we invite you to play at half-time of the SUNS v LIONS match on the main field. What an experience this will be!! This is an event not to be missed and we encourage all families throughout the region to come along to this event. Auskick players and parents are required to meet at the ground at 1.45pm in front of the AFL Mackay Office deck (enter through the 3 main entry gates and the office is situated on the Eastern side of the main oval, Lamb st end). An announcement will be made throughout the ground at 1.40pm. Please see details below for event proceedings, we encourage families to enjoy the entertainment throughout the day:
10.30am – Gates open.
12.00pm – ANZAC Ceremony
12.15pm – City vs. Country match starts on main field.
1.05pm – AFL 9s half-time match Mercy College vs Pioneer SHS.
1.45pm – All Auskick parents and children to meet at AFL office deck.
2.15pm – Gold Coast SUNS vs. Brisbane Lions match commences.
2.40pm (Quarter Time break) – Auskick parents/player to return to AFL office desk for meeting and warm up (enclosed shoes are essential, boots optional). Players will receive a jersey/bib to wear during the half-time games. Children will be allocated into teams based on age/ability, all games are modified and Auskick rules apply.
3.00pm – Auskick participants line up ready to enter field.
3.10pm (Half time break) – Auskick games commence.
3.30pm – Players leave the field and photo opportunities will occur following this.
3.40pm- Final thank you to all parents/participants, who are encouraged to watch the remainder of the SUNS v LIONS match.

Other dates to pencil into the calendar include:
- Friday 3rd May – Start of the U7 – U11s junior AFL season in Mackay.
- Friday 7th June – AFL Super Clinic featuring two special AFL identities to be announced shortly. (Hint a Hawthorn legend and an up and coming Gold Coast SUNS player!)
- Sat/Sun 8th and 9th June – U14 Country AFL Championships in Mackay.
