UMPIRES ROAD SHOW - Thursday 28 February, 2013
AFL Queensland are bringing the Umpires Road Show to Mackay on Thursday 28th February. Two current AFL Umpires will be in town to talk to clubs and umpires about umpiring ‘stuff’, on their way to run the NAB Cup game in Townsville the following weekend.
We will be holding a special training/information session in the evening, so that you can meet and talk to these umpires. After the session there will be a BBQ put on by the Umpires Association.
We would like all Clubs, Coaches and even players to attend.
The program will go something like:
Split into two groups – (run at the same time)
- 1 AFL umpire to talk to clubs and club coaches or players about match day environments etc. Some of our senior umpires will also attend. It is proposed that all clubs and club coaches (at least) attend.
- 1 AFL umpire to take ‘umpire training’ – going through some skill and ‘question / answer’ sessions – good for junior umpires to attend.
The Sessions will be run in the evening, starting at about 5:30pm / 6:00pm - and it's *FREE*! We'll be chasing up exact numbers toward the middle of February.
If you know of anyone who would like to take up umpiring in 2013, bring them along also.
More information to follow. Stay tuned.
