BAKERS Creek, one of the oldest and most successful clubs in the Mackay AFL League, has launched Operation Rebuild.
A large number of interested people attended the club's annual meeting on Saturday at Etwell Park where a newly elected executive and committee was formed.
Bakers Creek slumped to its lowest point in its proud history by withdrawing from the 2011 competition after round 15 after having to forfeit some games because of a lack of players.
Newly elected president Peter Graham said the club had already identified the four key objectives that it would focus on during the off season.
"Number one will be to establish an under-9s and under-11s for season 2012," he said.
"Number two, recruit and appoint a new playing coach.
"Number three, actively recruit quality players that will enable us to be competitive in season 2012.
"Number four and probably one of the most important is to change and adopt a new culture at the club."
AFL Mackay chairman Rohan Howie said geographically Bakers Creek was probably in the heart of Mackay's next growth region.
"With the development of Ooralea Waters and the expansions at Hay Point and Daly Bay, it is a must that we maintain an AFL presence in this area," he said.
AFL Queensland regional development manager David Harding, along with club sustainability co-ordinator Darryl Griffiths, will also work closely with Graham and the new committee to ensure things get back on track.
"David will be getting things started for us by taking our first pre-season training run on Thursday, November 24," Graham said.
