Conservation Volunteers (CV) and BHP Billiton Mitsui Coal Pty Ltd (BMC) have joined together to create an
opportunity for Community and Natural Resource Management Groups in the Bowen Basin to gain skills to benefit your organisations and the broader regional community.
The free workshop will provide:
- · An easy to use and comprehensive safety management toolkit for community groups
Designed to provide guidance to community groups to minimise any risks associated with their activities,
the toolkit is focused on protecting volunteers as a core value and contains templates for volunteer
registration, incident management, pre-existing conditions and volunteer-friendly risk assessments. In Safe
Hands was designed by Conservation Volunteers specifically for community groups. The workshop will go
through the toolkit and ways to implement it in day to day community events and activities.
- · Community groups attending this forum will receive a copy of the ‘In Safe Hands Toolkit’ complete with
CD files of the templates for your community groups use.
- · A discussion will also take place with BMC’s Principal Community Advisor about BMC’s approach to
community partnership and future opportunities.
This is a unique opportunity that should not be missed.
Volunteers and community groups are an integral part of the community and we would like to share our value of
protecting volunteers and assisting community groups to become sustainable.
We look forward to seeing you there.
