Pioneer High School student Hannah Hillman was one of four Central Coast Cobras players to make the All Stars Team following the state under 16 girls championships in Cairns.
Hillman, who was joined in the team by Kirsty Swindells of Mackay State High School and Aimee Wade (Holy Spirit), is also in the running for possible selection in next year's under-18 state team.
The Central Coast Cobras team was made up of girls from Wide Bay, Rockhampton and Mackay.
Pioneer High School teacher Kiah Lanham, who was head coach of the Cobras, joined the girls for the exhausting nine hour drive to be in Cairns by 4pm for the first game against the Cape York Crusaders starting at 5pm.
Considering the travel the girls played a fantastic brand of football and came away with a 36-point win.
On Saturday the Cobras were pitted against the highly fancied Brisbane and Gold Coast teams.
The Cobras had a narrow two-goal loss to the Brisbane Flames who would eventually win the state championships.
"The Southern Stars really gave the girls a football lesson and won by 10 goals in game three but a real learning experience for all the girls who don't play regular football like their last two rivals," AFL development manager David Harding said.
"On Sunday we were pitted against host team the Cairns Lions in very hot and humid conditions. After a good night's rest the Cobras came out and had a decisive four goal win.
"With one game to go the girls had to win their last game to finish third. The game was never in doubt, we eventually won by six goals.
"Fantastic result and a great weekend, all three girls did a wonderful job and coach Lanham was very proud of her troops."
