The opening game of the round between GLADSTONE and GLENMORE is a must win game for both clubs. Although only six rounds have been played so far this season it looks as if the two teams could well be fighting it out for the fourth spot on the ladder.
With both teams winning a single game each in the past month a victory here would be a major confidence boost. The Bulls bounced back last week against bottom of the table Panthers, whilst the Muddies were belted at the hands of the ever improving Brothers side.
In their first clash of the year at Stenlake Park the match went right down to the final siren, with the Bulls coming away with the win. The Muddies will be desperate to reverse the result this time around and even though there will be a number of players out again with injury they will be hoping that the younger players stand up for them.
The game of the round has BROTHERS taking on the undefeated YEPPOON. On form they are the best two sides in the competition and it will be the biggest challenge the Swans have faced so far this year.
After losing their opening game of the year Brothers have continued to improve and whilst Yeppoon won the contest by 43 points in their first encounter, expect the scoreline to be much closer this time around. The addition to the Brothers line up of their Victorian recruits has them with arguably the best midfield in the competition and the forward line options in the Smithwick brothers and young gun Aiden Colbourne will cause plenty of headaches for the Swans defence.
Yeppoon must go into the game favourites having gone undefeated so far this year however expect this to be a cracking contest.
In the final game of the round, PANTHERS will be looking to get their first win of the year against BITS. Both teams were beaten last week and BITS will be out to prove a point after comments made by their coach following last week's defeat claiming the A-grade team had been 'sacrificed' by a number of players having to double up.
Whilst Panthers didn't get a win last week there were plenty of positives to come out of the game. Although they had a shocking start to the game they were able to dig deep and fight back throughout the remainder of the contest. Joel Ralph continues to lead the way for the team and he will require plenty of support this week if they are to record their first win.
