Alastair Lynch one of the AFL's greatest players will be visiting the Gladstone Football Club this Wednesday.
Alastair will be at Clinton Park to sign autographs and talk to the public between 5.30 - 6pm. This is a fantastic opportunity for young fans to meet one of the games best players. At 6pm Alastair will be running the U/14 Capricornia Cyclones representative side training session. These players are from all the AFL Capricornia clubs and for these promising young players to get an insight into what it takes to make the elite level and learn how AFL players prepare themselves will be a fantastic experience for them.
Alastair Lynch was selected in the 1986 draft and began his senior football career at the Fitzroy Lions. He was an intimidating player in defence, playing fullback and centre half back. He was one of the best marks in the competition and known for his attack on the ball and heavy tackling. Lynch then moved to Brisbane in 1994 as one of the big signings for the club. After playing a number of seasons in defence, Lynch began to play at full forward where his strength and goal kicking ability made him one of the best forwards in the competition.
Lynch was part of the Brisbane Lions premierships in 2001, 2002 and 2003 and retired after the 2004 grand final. He finished his career with 306 games and 633 goals.
Those interested in meeting one of the games best players should come down to Clinton Park this Wednesday. If you have any questions please call Stuart Seager, AFL Capricornia Development Officer, on 0420 980 521.
