This week Barry Gibson (State Football Operations Manager), Keith Webb (Affiliates & Sustainability Manager) and Tony Saunders (Footyweb Manager and Jnr Comp Manager – Brisbane) visited our Region as part of their North Queensland tour which included presentations in Townsville and Mackay. The evening was hosted by our Senior League Sponsor, The Frenchville Sports Club.
Tony delivered an ‘up close and personal’ presentation with Club Administrators, Registrars and Team Managers with the use of the competitions Sports TG program. This was a great opportunity for our local volunteers to ask questions and get a live tutorial with any issues they may have been experiencing. It was also an opportunity for Tony to ensure that Clubs were getting the full benefits out of the system that is provides. Everyone walked away from the session extremely happy with the information that Tony provided them to take back to their respective Clubs.
Barry and Keith delivered a presentation for Club Presidents, Umpires Association and Executive Committee members on AFLQ’s vision for football in Regional Queensland. The focus of the presentation outlined a commitment from AFLQ on the ongoing presence to deliver quality Administration of competitions throughout Queensland. The presentation also addressed the desire to reduce the workload on volunteers in the region and allow them to focus more directly on the day to day operation of each individual Club. Both aspects allow for a heightened level of professionalism in the league and the increased ability to promote our game. There was a very positive feel from Clubs involved and it gave everyone an opportunity to express their thoughts and ask questions as they needed.
Barry and Keith will continue to work with the Clubs and Local AFLQ Staff with a return visit planned once the season has commenced.
