In the first game of the round, BITS won the local contest over GLADSTONE to advance through to the finals. The Muddies were hoping to stop BITS from making the finals for almost two decades, however they proved too strong winning the game by 15 points.
Once again the Muddies were left to question themselves after giving away too much of a lead to the opposition after a poor start to the match. BITS led by 41 points at the main break, the Muddies not willing to chase and be accountable through the middle of the ground.
In the second half the Muddies played much improved football, closing the gap to 24 points at three quarter time and kicking the first three goals in the final term to be within a kick. However, BITS rallied with the help of their own crowd to secure a vital win for the club.
In the second game, YEPPOON proved too strong for PANTHERS beating them by 80 points. This contest was expected to be even, however the Swans played brilliant attcking football to increase their lead at each break. A twelve goal to two second half had the winning margin really blow out.
Daniel Watkin kicked five goals and Wes Hawke four in the Swans big win, Adam Kaufman the only multiple goal kicker for the Panthers with three.
Both teams will be looking towards the finals now, Yeppoon full of confidence after a very impressive win.
In the final game of the round, GLENMORE fell just short, losing to BROTHERS by one point. Both sides played a couple loose in defence, the Bulls seeing this as the only way to stop the Brothers forward options.
The tactic worked extremely well, neither side really able to dominate the play. Unfortunately for Glenmore it was Brothers who found themselves in front when the final siren went. Jesse Thompson with six goals and Kristofor Bulman four goals were amongst the best for the Bulls whilst Aiden Colbourne managed another five goals to stamp himself as the one to stop come finals time.
