The first game of the weekend had the in form BROTHERS team register another win down at BITS. Brothers managed to get away to a four goal lead at the break and were never threatened from there. Whilst the margin never blew out, the buffer was held throughout the game, BITS unable to work their way back after the slow start.
Aiden Colbourne kicked another five goals for the winners, whilst Steve Smithwick was one of the better players on the ground with four goals. Paul Caveny worked tirelessly in the middle of the ground to be best on ground for BITS whilst both Craig and Daniel Shipad were amongst their best.
PANTHERS secured their second win of the year, beating GLADSTONE at Clinton Park. It was a close game all day, Panthers managing to hold off the Muddies who got to within three points in the last couple of minutes.
Some undisciplined play cost the home team, three players sent off during the game. The most crucial of these being in the final stages of the game, costing the Muddies possession in their forward fifty and releasing the pressure on the Panthers. Clinton Evans and Joel Ralph were the best for the winners, whilst Nick Stanley and Stuart Seager were amongst the Muddies better players.
In the final game of the round, GLENMORE had a massive upset win over YEPPOON. The Bulls managed to secure the win by 14 points, a vital win in the context of the season. This now puts them two games clear of BITS below them and gives them confidence leading into the coming weeks.
