Only two rounds remain in the Trend Interiors Carpet AFL Capricornia season before the business end of the season the finals are upon us. The three powerhouse sides of 2007 and favorites to challenge for the flag all had massive wins in round 13 to stake their claims for the title.
Reigning premiers BITS had a super impressive win over Glenmore by 95 points in the match of the round in a performance that will be sure to have the other potential finalist looking over their shoulder. Panthers continued their march to the 2007 finals with a big 109 point win over Yeppoon at the RCG, in the final game of the round the Mudcrabs trounced Brothers in an impressive win on the road. Winners from the reserve grade competition were the Swans, Bulls and the Mudcrabs.
This weekends round 14 matches throw up a couple of absolute block buster games with the match of the round and perhaps the year to date, will see the Panthers facing their toughest test when they take on the Saints at Boyne Island. This match may well be a preview of this year grand final. In other games the Bulls face a must win game against the Mudcrabs at home to have any chance of making the finals, while at Kele Park the Roo's will be chasing their first win of 2007 when they host the Swans.
Round 14 match of the round - BITS VS Panthers 2.30pm Boyne Oval
This match will see two sides in great form go to battle with the winner taking the mental edge into the finals for future clashes. For the Panthers, this game will represent their biggest challenge to date in 2007 and will be the difference between an unbeaten regular season or one loss. The Saints have been in tremendous form since their last loss to the Panthers and will be keen to turn the tables. All of the Saints big guns are firing at the right end of the year with A Dickenson and D Stebbings providing plenty of run out of defence while N Shipard and Darren Boase provide ample options in the forward line. The Panthers defence will need to be at their best against the Saints and the likes of Kronk, Evans and Britt will all need to be on their games in the midfield.
Glenmore vs Gladstone - Stenlake Park 2.30pm
It's the last roll of the dice for the Bulls in 2007, win their remaining two games or miss out on finals actions. The Muddies have cemented their spot in the top four and will be keen to take winning form into the finals. This match will be hard to pick a winner out of with the ability of the muddies to travel having a big bearing on the final result. The bulls need to have all of their guns firing and on their games if they are to have any chance, a big bag from Woosnam would also be handy.
Brothers vs Yeppoon - Kele Park 2.30pm
Brothers will not get a better chance to record a win then this week end when they face the out of form Swans at home. The Swans have strugled in recent weeks to support the work of their young brigade and have suffered some big losses as a result, the return of Captain Wes Hawke will boost their team and add alot of expierence. If the Roo's don't win this one they may finish the 2007 season winless so expect a spirited performance from them.
