GLADSTONE got their season back on track with a solid 14 point win over GLENMORE. The Muddies have struggled to put a four quarter effort in all year, however played some very good football throughout the clash with the Bulls.
The home side started well putting on seven goals to four in the opening quarter, only to see them relinquish the lead to a fired up Bulls side that went into the main break holding a narow two point lead. Something must have clicked at half time as the Muddies kicked six unanswered goals in the third quarter to take a handy lead into the final change.
Whilst the Bulls managed to narrow the gap, the Muddies held on and won a vital game. Reece Sadlier was their best with six goals whilst Toby Payne kicked five in a losing side.
The PANTHERS continued their amazing run of form, thrashing BITS by 46 points. They are now in the top four, somewhere they could never have believed after the start to the season that they had.
They proved too strong for BITS all over the ground and controlled the play throughout the game. They were never really challenged in the match after establishing a 20 point lead at quarter time. Brendon Bell and Adam Kaufmann both kicked six majors and Clinton Evans was their best on the day. BITS didn't have too many winners on the park, Lucas Hall worked hard with four goals and young Nathan Hogg tried all day to be their best.
In the final game of the round, YEPPOON were beaten at home by BROTHERS. The Brothers team proved too strong in a tight game, winning by 11 points in a contest that could well be a preview of this years Grand Final.
Although the Swans had four more scoring shots, Brothers used the ball more efficiently on the day. There were no dominant players, Charlie Ampt found plenty of the footy for the winnners as well as Scott Smithwick being solid across the half back line. Matty Wallin and Lee Milway were once again the best players for Yeppoon, these two have led the way all year.
Brothers must now be considered favourite for the flag, it is just a question of whether there is a side who can match it with them on the day.
