The games this weekend will provide the last chances for a couple of the teams in the competition. With sides desperate to make the finals, the matches this weekend should provide some fantastic football for the spectators.
The first game of the weekend between GLADSTONE and GLENMORE should be an absolute cracker of a game. Both sides come off losses last weekend, the Muddies thrashed at the hands of Brothers, whilst Glenmore led all game only to be beaten by Panthers in the last couple of minutes.
The sides have won a game each out of the matches against each other, the home side taking the points on each occasion. The Muddies have everything to play for, if they lose this then their slim finals hopes are over. Glenmore still remain in third position, however with teams below them only a game behind this is just as crucial for the Bulls.
Expect the game to be won through the midfield. If Glenmore can get on top through the Payne brothers and Aaron Russell then they will be too good, yet if Gladstone can break even in the centre then they should prove too strong with their options up forward.
The next game between PANTHERS and BITS looks to be just as vital to both teams as the previous game. The two teams now sit even on points and a loss would have either team outside the top four. Panthers continue their impressive run of wins whilst BITS have really struggled lately, not something the side is used to.
Panthers won the previous encounter at Rockhampton Cricket Ground and with their confidence high will like their chances. BITS will need to shut down Joel Ralph if they are going to be a chance, if he plays well then Panthers will be hard to stop. John Beirouti has kicked nine goals in the past couple of games and will provide a focal point for BITS at full forward.
The final game of the weekend between YEPPOON and BROTHERS is the top of the table clash. Whilst the Swans started the year on fire, it is Brothers who are now firm favourites for the flag. If they can win this weekend then they will enter the finals on top of the ladder.
Yeppoon bounced back last week with a good win over BITS after struggling over the past month. They are still not at full strength, a couple of key players out with injury. Brothers appear to be solid all over the ground, yet it is Aiden Colbourne who must be stopped. He kicked 12.3 last weekend and had a hand in a couple of other goals. If he can be stopped then the Swans have a chance, yet there are a number of other options Brothers can turn to.
Expect this to be a close game with Brothers winning it by a small margin.
