In a game where neither team dominated the play, BROTHERS proved they were just too strong as a team and overcame YEPPOON by 28 points.
Whilst Brothers entered the match as favourites, many expected that with the support of the home crowd Yeppoon could well pull off an upset. However, Brothers didn't let the crowd into the game, gaining a seven point lead at quarter time. Whilst goals weren't easy to find, it was the options up forward which was the advantage for Brothers.
They managed to extend their lead to 14 at the main break, before slotting six goals in an impressive third quarter to take a handy 37 point lead into the final quarter. Yeppoon managed to close the gap in the last, however it proved too much a task, Brothers holding on for a comfortable victory.
Aiden Colbourne and Dave Brady did the damage up forward for Brothers with five goals each, whilst Daniel Watkin was the only multiple goal kicker for Yeppoon with three goals.
FINAL SCORES
Brothers 13.8 (86) defeated Yeppoon 8.10 (58)
