The Swans come out firing in the 2nd quarter and went onto kick 5 unanswered goals and looked to be taking a very handy lead into half time, however some quick ball movement and a very good display from Darcy Payne saw Glenmore go into the break 2 points down. The third quarter saw a sea-sawing battle with goals harder to come by. A game which was always going to be played at a physical level saw Panthers open up a useful 3 goal lead a quarter time. But a much more determined Gladstone outfit hit the field in the second quarter kicking 5 goals to 2 to be behind by just one point at the main break. The final half really was the nail in the coffin for Panthers as they had 14 scoring shots to 5 but as the story goes you need to kick goals to win games and that's just what Gladstone did.
