It was a wet and wild round in the Trend Interiors Carpet and Tile Court AFL Capricornia competition. Glenmore benefited most out of the conditions and are on top of the ladder after defeating the BITS Saints at Stenlake Park. Conditions kept the scoring low with Glenmores Dean Woosnam the only multiple goal scorer for the game kicking two majors. The first quarter provided most of the action with Glenmore kicking 3 goals to BITS Saints 1. The rest of the match was a hard slog for both teams with stop start play in the slippery conditions. Glenmore ended up 17 point winners kicking 4 goals to BITS 1 goal. Players to excel in the wet for Glenmore where Tim Mackrill, Chris Murphy and Aaron Russell. Best players for bits where Seb Rigney and Adam Dickenson.
At the Rockhampton Cricket Ground Yeppoon Swans upset an inform Panthers side in a close game. Panthers were on top in the first half with a very handy 9 point lead at half time considering the conditions. It was all Yeppoon in the second half however keeping Panthers scoreless and kicking 3 goals of their own. The younger players for Yeppoon starred again with Cameron Watkin, Chris Blanchard and Dylan Bibby named best players. Ben Kneen, Jason Chisolm and Lyle Clifford tried hard for Panthers in the wet conditions. The win for Yeppoon sees them sitting just one game outside the top four.
Gladstone got back on the winners list with an important win against Brothers. In conditions that were a little better for football Gladstone ran out eventual winners by 24 points. Brothers were in touch with the Mudcrabs for the majority of the first half and were only down by 3 points at halftime. Experience prevailed for Gladstone in the 3rd quarter with the muddies kicking 7 goals to Brothers 1 goal. Best players for Gladstone included the younger brigade of Ben Coles, Daniel Clay and Shane Eilola. Logan Thornborrow continued his good form in the competition and was well supported by Ray Stock Scott Smithwick and Aaron Ferguson.
The ladder for the A-Grade competition has Glenmore on top followed by Panthers, BITS Saints and Gladstone. Yeppoon and Brothers round out the ladder. In reserve grade Gladstone, Yeppoon and BITS Saints were winners. No games next week due to the long weekend and the U/14 Country Championships.
