AFL Capricornia 2013 Premiership
The two unbeaten sides in the AFL Capricornia premiership season, BITS Saints and the Yeppoon Swans continued on their merry way with just 2 weeks to go before their big match at Swan Park in Yeppoon.
BITS defeated Panthers by 102 points at the Boyne Oval 25.13 (163) to Panthers 9.7 (61). Centre half forward Luke O’Shea had a day out with a bagful of 10 goals for the Saints while Luke Moriarty, Keith Bilston and Peter Bond all kicked 3 each.
Best for BITS was veteran Keith Bilston and Jacob Mills. Aaron Pianta kicked 4 goals
for Panthers, their best performers were Shannon Roati, Jack Watkins and Chris Anderson.
Yeppoon Swans displayed some of the reasons while they are early favourites along with the Saints for this season’s flag when they defeated Brothers at Kele Park 19.14 (128) to Brothers 8.10 (58). Brothers young side mounted a “do or die”effort in the third quarter and actually out scored the Swans by 7 points for the term
Matthew Wallin kicked 5 for Yeppoon and Nathan Milburn scored 4 goals. Top scorer for Brothers was Brad Matheson with 3 goals.
The Swans Nathan Milburn won the inaugural Anzac Medal for best player on the ground.
Glenmore Bulls defeated old rivals the Gladstone Mudcrabs at Clinton Park in Gladstone winning 10.11 (71) to 8.5 (53).
The Bulls led 63 points to 21 at three quarter time but nearly threw the game away as the Muddies dominated the term booting 5 goals to Glenmore’s 1.
The Bulls best were Brandon Chadwick and Tyson and Nick Payne.
Mathew Cameron and Corey Redsel were Glenmores only multiple goal kickers with 2 each. The muddies Luke Berry and Stephen Eilola also kicked 2 each.
