This weekend the Capricornia U’16 squad will play Wide Bay in a practise match at Kele Park. This will be the first year that the Cap U’16 team plays a practise match before the State Country Carnival in April.
After a wet and muddy final training session yesterday afternoon before this weekend’s practise match, the squad is looking fit and strong with an even spread of players from all clubs. There will be no shortage of tall’s over the ground with majority of players being around the 6 foot tall mark.
The past few weeks the squads training has been split into two groups, Coach Dale Sparkman training the Port Curtis boys and Assistant Coach Gerard Raven training the Rockhampton and Yeppoon lads. After seeing all of the squad train yesterday at Mt Larcom, both have said that “The practise match will give a better perspective on which roles certain players will play, having that many strong and tall players is a great asset, and the only slight obstacle is where to put them all on the park”.
All footy lovers are encouraged to come down and watch the talented U’16s alongside Talent ID personel from the AFL this weekend.
