Well football is back and hasn't it come around quickly, it only feels like last week that the 2010 season was wrapping up. For the players and coaches Round 1 of the Trends Interior Carpet and Tile Court Premiership Season probably hasn't come quick enough. While most of the clubs didn't formally commence their pre-seasons until the New Year, there were some clubs that commenced their premiership campaigns much earlier in the aim of gaining any little advantage over the opposition.
New players/coaches have arrived, some have moved on or retired, some of the league’s up and coming young talent will step up into Senior ranks, and yes some of the dinosaurs are gearing up for yet another campaign, all with the one goal in mind, achieving the ultimate glory on that ‘One Day in September’.
While most clubs have had an interrupted pre-season with the floods and the persistent rain, this will all be forgotten once the ball bounces this weekend.
Given that generally most clubs have a high turnover of players each season, it is always difficult making any early predictions about who will be the team to beat and who will be the challenges. A couple of my early predictions for the season ahead are,
- This season will be the closest in history with the Grand Final in both Senior grades to be decided by less then a kick
- The top 4 positions on the ladder will be decided by percentage
- The team who can adapt to wet weather football will be on top of the ladder after round 5
- The abundance of talented youth will make a mark in the Senior Ranks
- The leading sides from last season will once again be up there, but there will also be a serious contender emerge from the pack
Let the 2011 Trends Interior Carpet and Tile Court Premiership Season commence.
Don’t forget that this weekend is also an historical one for the AFL, with the Gold Coast Suns playing their first official AFL premiership match.
Can the ‘Son of God’ aka Gary Ablett Jnr guide the young suns to what would be an historical win?
Can ex-Capricornia AFL junior product Zac Smith step up against the much more mature bodies of experienced AFL ruckmen?
Can Karmichael show that NRL players can transition to AFL or will he make a fool of himself and the AFL?
Only time will tell!!!
Stay posted for the Round 1 Preview of the Trends Interior Carpet and Tile Court Premiership Season and some exciting new weekly novelties.
I look forward to providing you with the weekly previews and reviews of each game.
